Harrisburg Gorkhas Wins Fourth Sathi Cup Cricket Title

The Harrisburg Gorkhas have clinched the title of the Fourth Sathi Cup Cricket Tournament. In the final held during the Labor Day weekend, Harrisburg Gorkhas defeated the two-time champions, Virginia's Everest Lions Cricket Club, by two wickets to win the title for the second consecutive time.

The final was played at the Schooling Miller Park on Highland Hallshup Road. Everest Lions set a target of 106 runs in 20 overs with the loss of five wickets. Everest’s Vivek Karki contributed 38 runs. For Harrisburg Gorkhas, Basu Dhungana took three wickets and Bhagat Bhandari took two.

In response, Harrisburg Gorkhas achieved the target of 107 runs with the loss of 8 wickets. Wicketkeeper-batsman Khagin Dhimal played an unbeaten innings of 44 runs to lead his team to victory. In the final over, Tara Adhikari added 10 runs with patience to secure a thrilling win for the team.

Everest Lions’ Neer Gurung took three wickets, and Sujan Khanal took two wickets, while Deepak Pathak, Vinod Karki, and Abhijeet Rai each took one wicket. Bhagat Bhandari was named Player of the Match in the final.

The three-day tournament, organized by Sathi Baltimore, featured 12 teams. The participating teams were divided into four groups and played on a league and knockout basis.

With the title, Harrisburg Gorkhas received a cash prize of $6,000, while the second-place Everest Lions earned $3,000. The second-place prize was sponsored by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) USA under its Youth, Student, and Sports Department and NRNA Maryland Chapter.
