Kathmandu, May 25, 2025- In a powerful show of international solidarity, Stephane David, Executive Board Member of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) and Oceania Representative, extended his heartfelt message of support to the organizers and young athletes of the 6th Lalitpur Climbing Festival and the May 23 KMES – Vertical Challenge Cup 2025.

Stephane David’s journey in climbing leadership began in 2018 through active involvement in New Zealand’s local climbing scene. In 2022, he took on a pivotal role following the launch of the country’s high-performance speed climbing programme, and shortly thereafter joined the Oceania Council for Sport Climbing to further regional development.
His election to the IFSC Executive Board in April 2025 as the Oceania Representative marked a milestone in his continued efforts to uplift climbing across continents. With a clear focus on athlete support and global inclusivity, David is recognized for championing initiatives that strengthen climbing from grassroots to elite levels.
Mr. Rupesh Adhikari, President of the Nepal Climbing Sport Association (Kathmandu Valley Special Committee), acknowledged the impact of David’s message:
