Swadesh Wins Turkish Airlines Golf Tourney

Swadesh Gurung emerged victorious at the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup – Amateur Series held at the Gokarna Forest Resort Golf Club in Kathmandu on Saturday. Gurung scored an impressive 42 stableford points to claim the title and earn a coveted spot at the Grand Final of the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup, set to take place in Antalya this November representing Kathmandu, Nepal.
Just one point behind, Ang Dendi Sherpa and Pradip KC both finished with 41 points. Ang Dendi was declared the first runner-up after carding 20 points on the back nine, edging out Pradip, who scored 19 on the back nine, placing him in third.
Wangchen Dhondup took home the Best Gross award with a total of 41 gross points. Meanwhile, Manohar Das Mool and Bipana Shrestha won the Closest to the Pin awards in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.
The tournament, sponsored by Turkish Airlines, featured 84 golfers and was played over 18 holes with a 3/4 handicap format, capped at a maximum of 24 for both men and women.
Prizes were distributed by Serkan Basar, General Manager of Turkish Airlines Kathmandu, along with Sales Manager Benazir Khan, Station Manager Reshu Singh, Deputy Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Naveen Adhikari, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire, and Captain Joseph Nathan.
