A new face made his debut in the Nepali team in the ICC World Cup Cricket League Two match against the United States. Gulsan Jha, who has only played two home games, has made his senior team debut. He became Nepal's 27th player to play in an ODI match. Sompal Kami handed Gulshan the debut cap. Nepal will bat first in today's match after losing the toss.
Gulshan made his senior team debut in the game against the United States after only playing two games in the Mayor's Cup for Nepal Police Club. In the game against the United States, Gulshan, a young fast bowler from Nepal, has taken Bikram Sob's place in the team.
Gulshan has begun the journey of his senior team, which includes Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Bikram Sob, and Abinash Bohara.
Gulshan's journey to the National Cricket Team
A few months before the Mayors Cup, he attempted to play from province 2 in the Prime Minister's Cup ODI cricket. However, he did not capture the attention of the selectors at the time, and he was awarded a scholarship to the Nexus Cricket Academy. Following two weeks of training at the academy, police Coach Manoj Katwal decided to offer him a tryout and retain him on the team. He had a significant influence on the coach during his trial. Gulshan found consolation in the fact that he would not be able to compete in the Prime Minister's Cup cricket tournament. He was included in Province 2's reserve players, but not among the 15 players.
Jha, who made his debut with the police squad in the same competition, did not take a wicket in the first match against Mayor 11, but his bowling was highly welcomed. He bowled cheaply in the opening game, scoring only 22 runs in six overs with one maiden. He was able to concentrate on the first game because of the pace and bounce of his ball. Given his skill, police coach Manoj Katwal offered him another chance in the final match against APF.
Jha seized the chance with both hands. He got four wickets for 36 runs in seven overs against APF. Jha returned the APF's top order batsmen to the pavilion cheaply on the ground in Kirtipur. He dismissed Shankar Rana, Captain Sharad Bheswakar, and Bhuwan Karki, as well as directing Kamal Singh Airy to the pavilion.
Jha, who can throw the ball at an average of 140 yards each throw, has sparked a lot of interest with his success in two games. Jha, who bowled with a low height and a lengthy run-up, was playing in Nepal's national competition for the first time. The province two had previously had trials for two teams in the Prime Minister's Cup, but they were unable to be selected. However, several authorities from province two cricket recognized his bowling technique and line length.
Despite the fact that he was not selected for the PM Cup, Birgunj Coach Prakash Sharma advised the police team that Jha had a strong chance and that they should watch his performance. The police coach Manoj Katawal advised bowling at Mulpani field during the PM Cup. Even after tossing four or five balls, Katwal advised Jha to stay in the squad today and play for the police team at the Mayors Cup instead of other teams.
Katwal loved his style so much that he chose to keep him on the Police team for the Mayors Cup. Gulshan was given the opportunity to make his debut in the game against Mayor 11 from the police due to the team's need for a solid bowler and the player's injury problem. The police squad replaced him in place of Rashid Khan, a quick bowler against Mayor 11.
Gulshan is the Jha family's oldest son. Gulshan, as well as his sister and brother, are under the care of his father, Akhilesh Jha, and mother, Anju Devi. His father is kept busy by the brick kiln. His mother continues to attempt to grant many of his requests. Gulshan dropped out of eighth grade and began playing cricket after turning the same accolade into an opportunity. He was now free to play in the society where education was considered as the most important part of life. He travelled to India, the neighboring nation, to learn cricket. He has been learning cricket from people who have competed in the Ranji Trophy since 2017. He attended a cricket academy in Ranchi and excelled as a quick bowler.
Gulshan knows how to bowl in three different styles: slower, cutter, and bouncer. Gulshan was an excellent bouncer, but he also put in a lot of time in the middle for the Yorkers. He had the opportunity to prove his consistency in the Saptari Premier League after the triumph of the Mayor's Cup. He was also chosen as a result of his participation in the action. He couldn't play when the doctor asked him to treat his back.
He experienced some fitness issues following the Mayors Cup. But, once he was out of it, he was able to make himself fit. Gulshan was not among them when Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) called up 20 players in the first round after the Oman series was concluded. In the meantime, Paras Khadka, the former captain of the national team, has opted to retire from international football. Later CAN called Gulshan to the second-round list after Coach Davenell Frederick Whatmore opted to maintain Gulshan in the senior team's camp for the first time.
He was taken aback by the fact that he was at the national team camp for the first time so soon because he had not anticipated being called to the national team training so soon. He was confident, though.
But, more importantly, when he was at the senior squad camp for the first time, he made it to the national team for the first time. Also, his path is clear, as just 17 players will be allowed to travel to Oman this time. The national team has given Gulshan a chance.
This chance is the opportunity for Gulshan to prove his potentials. He is aware of this as well. The main issue is whether or not he can make the starting lineup. Nepal will play two friendly matches against Papua New Guinea national cricket team (PNG) prior to the triangular series. The coach is likely to employ him in the two games.
Even so, he'll be up against Karan KC, Sompal Kami, and Abinash Bohara. Sompal and Karan are almost guaranteed to join the regular team due to their batsman ship. His primary opponent, though, will be Abhinash, who is regarded as a death over expert. Gulshan can, of course, strike the ball powerfully when batting.
Gulshan's brief path to the national squad, at the age of 17, is like something out of a fairy tale. However, he now has the task of becoming a regular member of the squad and how to perform successfully.
