Nepal and Maldives as the main contenders to host the SAFF Championship

The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) will decide the location for the football competition by Monday. The schedule to host SAFF will most probably be finalized on Monday.

According to reports, the competition in Bangladesh will be canceled due to a lack of co-sponsors. Nepal and the Maldives have also expressed interest in hosting this competition.

The Nepalese government has agreed to provide the All Nepal Football Association(ANFA) with Rs. 50 million for the SAFF project. The procedure for that has also progressed. The cost of the SAFF project is expected to be around Rs. 70 million.

Although SAFF has stated that one million dollars is required, ANFA has stated that 70 million rupees will suffice. ANFA is well-capitalized to do so.

If SAFF will be in Nepal, ANFA will be required to pay a royalty of $100,000 to SAFF. In addition, Nepal will be required to pay each team 25,000 dollars in preparation costs. Likewise, 75,000 dollars will be required for prize money, and approximately 60,000 dollars will be required for the official's allowance.

In addition, ANFA has written a letter stating that they are prepared to participate in the SAFF project. Although the competition's exact date has not been announced, it is expected to take place in October. The SAFF will feature five countries this year. This will be a single round robin tournament.

The Nepalese national football team has already begun its preparations for the SAFF Championship. Nepal will play India in two friendly matches on September 2 and 5 prior to that.
