Nepal Maintains Undefeated Streak in Asia-Pacific Qualifiers Ahead of T20 World Cup

Nepal, which has already secured its place in the ICC T20 World Cup, has maintained its undefeated journey in the Asia-Pacific Qualifiers.
Carrying two points from the group stage into the Super Six round, Nepal registered a brilliant 38-run victory against the home team, Oman. With this win, Nepal climbed to the top of the table with 8 points.
Nepal has already defeated UAE and Qatar in the Super Six matches and is scheduled to play against Samoa on Friday.
In the match held on Wednesday night, Nepal set a target of 152 runs for the host team Oman. In response, Oman's team could only manage 113 runs, losing 9 wickets in their allotted overs.
For Nepal, Gulshan Jha was the top wicket-taker, claiming 3 wickets by conceding 31 runs in 4 overs. Similarly, Nandan Yadav and Sompal Kami took 2 wickets each, while Sandeep Lamichhane secured one wicket.
For Oman, Vinayak Shukla scored the highest with 32 runs, while Mohammad Nadeem added 25 runs. Jatinder Singh made 14 runs, and Aryan contributed 11 runs.
Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat in the ongoing match at Al Amerat, Oman, Nepal posted 151 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Nepal's opener, Kushal Bhurtel, top-scored with 69 runs. He hit seven fours and one six off 51 balls. This is Bhurtel's 13th half-century in T20 International cricket and his second half-century in the current tournament.
The other opener, Asif Sheikh, added 24 runs off 20 balls, including two fours and one six. The pair gave Nepal an excellent start with a 61-run partnership in 7.3 overs. However, the middle and lower-order batters failed to capitalize, preventing Nepal from reaching a big total.
Gulshan Jha added 18 runs from nine balls, including two sixes. Mohammad Aadil Alam scored 16 runs off 15 balls, hitting three fours. For Oman, Nadeem Khan took four wickets, spending only 20 runs in his four-over spell. Sufyan Mehmood and Jiten Ramanandi took two wickets each.
Nepal had already booked its spot for next year's T20 World Cup even before the last two matches of the Super Six qualifiers.
This marks the third time Nepal has secured a ticket to the T20 World Cup. Previously, Nepal played in the T20 World Cups in 2014 and 2024.
