NPL Franchise Teams Sold, Pokhara Fetches Highest Price

Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has sold the franchise teams for the Nepal Premier League (NPL) through a bidding process today. In the auction, Nepal T-20 Pvt. Ltd. acquired ownership of the Pokhara franchise for the highest price of NPR 35.7 million.
Similarly, Kantipur Publication Pvt. Ltd. purchased the Kathmandu franchise for NPR 33.3 million.
The NPL tournament is scheduled to be held from Mangsir 15 to Poush 6. In the auction, the Chitwan franchise was bought by Chitwan Medical College (CMC) for NPR 17.6 million.
The ownership of the Biratnagar franchise went to MAD Dream Sports for NPR 15.1 million, while Fortune Health Care acquired the Lumbini franchise for NPR 17.6 million.
Dream Sports purchased the Janakpur franchise for NPR 20.5 million, and the Karnali franchise was bought by Himalayan Builders for NPR 11.7 million.
Additionally, Empire Sports bought the Sudurpaschim franchise for NPR 16.9 million.
According to CAN spokesperson Chhumbi Lama, the amount raised through the auction will serve as the franchise fee for the first year. From the second year onwards, teams will be required to pay the minimum franchise fee annually.
The duration of the agreement between CAN and the franchises has not yet been finalized. The official contract will be signed in the coming days, with an agreement term expected to be between 8 to 10 years.
