ICC T20 Asia Qualifier: Nepal defeats Kuwait to play final with Singapore

Nepal defeated Kuwait in the match held under the ICC World Cup Asia Region Final-2019. In the match held today at the Singapore-based Indian Association Cricket Ground, the Nepali team defeated Kuwait by seven wickets, increasing its chances to advance to the global qualification.

It has now moved up to the second place of the score board by gathering four points from the three matches followed by Kuwait. Nepal met a target of 142 runs posted by Kuwait in 15.5 overs only at the loss of three wickets. Nepal’s captain Paras Khadka played with a half-century innings in 32 balls, creating a history.

Sharad Veswakar made a score of 38 undefeated runs while Vice-Captain Gyanendra Malla contributed 19 runs to the team. Rohit Kumar Poudel made six runs and Dipendra Singh Airee scored one run. Muhammad Kashif took three wickets. Prior to this, Kuwait, sent to bat first after losing the toss, collected 141 runs in all 20 overs at the loss of nine wickets.

Team captain Kasif played with undefeated 49 runs. Nepal’s Sandip Lamichhane and Basanta Regmi took three wickets each while Karan KC took two and Abinash Bohara took one wicket. Kuwait, Malaysia and Qatar have already lost the hope for playing the global qualification.

Nepal will meet host Singapore which is on the topmost place of the point table with five points on Sunday for the final match.
