Nepal Falls Short by 9 Runs Against West Indies in ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup Warm-Up Match

Nepal narrowly lost to West Indies by 9 runs in their warm-up match for the ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup held in Malaysia. Chasing a target of 110 runs set by the West Indies, Nepal was bowled out for 100 runs in 19.1 overs.
For Nepal, Simana KC top-scored with a knock of 23 runs off 19 balls, including three boundaries. Captain Puja Mahato contributed 18 runs off 20 balls with three fours, while Kiran Kunwar made 18 runs off 14 balls before being run out, a turning point in the game. Soni Pakhrin added 15 runs off 23 deliveries. Unfortunately, Nepal's openers failed to make an impact, with Sana Prabin dismissed on the first ball and Sabitri Dhami managing just 5 runs.
Though Puja and Soni attempted to stabilize the innings, they couldn't sustain their partnership for long. Kiran and Simana kept Nepal’s hopes alive, but Kiran’s run-out and Simana's dismissal in the 19th over sealed Nepal’s fate. Nepal lost their final two wickets in quick succession, with Anu Kadayat and Kushum Godar dismissed consecutively.
For West Indies, Elia Vex, Amih Gilbert, and Trisha Hardat each took two wickets, while Kenika Casar claimed one. Nepal also suffered three run-outs, adding to their troubles.
Earlier, West Indies posted 109 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Samara Ramnath led the charge with a 33-ball 25, including two boundaries. Opener S.B. Callender scored 23 runs off 36 balls with two fours before being run out, while Zahara Cleston contributed an unbeaten 22 off 26 balls. Abigail Braes added a quick 19 runs off 11 balls, striking three boundaries before falling victim to a run-out.
For Nepal, Simana KC and Rachana Chaudhary each picked up a wicket. Simana conceded 19 runs in her 4-over spell, while Rachana gave away 17 runs in her 4 overs. Anu Kadayat was the most economical bowler for Nepal, conceding just 15 runs in her 4-over spell. Puja Mahato and Riya Sharma also bowled four overs each, conceding 32 and 20 runs, respectively.
