Bishnu Prasad Basnet and Umesh Dhital won the Kageshwari Manohara Municipal Badminton Championship on Sunday. Bishnu and Umesh defeated Sundar Pariyar and Kabiraj Thapa 21-9 and 21-8 in the final at Amar Singh Chowk’s Ward 7 cover hall of Mulpani.
Manoj Khadka and Hari Thapa, as well as Siddharth Lama and Ajambar Shrestha, finished third in the competition held by the Kageshwari Manohara Municipality and the Kageshwari Manohara Municipal Sports Development Committee. The top three finishers received cash prizes of Rs 10,000, 6,000, and 1,000 respectively. Ward 5 is home to Siddhartha and Ajambar are from Ward number 6, while rest of all are from ward number 9.
The winners were presented with prizes by the Mayor of Kageshwari Manohara Krishna Hari Thapa, Chairman of Ward 7 Jiban Thapa, Chairman of Kageshwari Manohara Nagar Sports Development Committee Ram Prasad Pudasaini, social worker Rajaram Silwal, Amar Chandra Bohara, General Secretary of Nepalese Taekwondo Academy Tirtharaj Ghimire, and others. The men's doubles event featured 13 teams competing over two days. This is the first time the competition has been held in conjunction with Vijaya Dashami and Deepawali.
