Cori "Coco" Gauff, a promising tennis player from the United States, has been eliminated from the Tokyo Olympics. Gauff, 17, has been ruled out of the Olympics after contracting the coronavirus.

Gauff was on her way to becoming the first American woman to compete in an Olympic tennis tournament since 2000. But she said her corona test report was positive.

Gauff, who is looking forward to competing in the Olympics, said she was heartbroken when she had to withdraw from the competition due to a virus.

Gauff, the world's number 25 player, was scheduled to compete in singles and doubles.

Two days after Australian tennis player Alex de Minaurwas diagnosed with the virus, it was revealed that another tennis player, Gauff, had tested positive as well.

Tennis competitions at the Olympics will begin on July 24. Roger Federer, Rafael "Rafa" Nadal Parera, Stanislas "Stan" Wawrinka, Dominic Thiem, Serena Jameka Williams, Simona Halep, and Nicholas Hilmy Kyrgioshave all said they will not compete in the Olympics. Novak Djokovic, the top seed, is competing in the Olympics.
